Intensive works on Fier bypass, one lane opens by June 30

TIRANA, May 31/ATA/- This summer, people will travel to Vlora passing through Fier Bypass.

The works at Fier bypass have entered an intensive phase in order to meet the deadline for opening one car lane by 30 June 2019.

The Albanian Road Authority reported that for the time being the concrete casting on all the bridges has been completed.

The Albanians have been waiting for year the pavement of the 22 kilometres of a new highway avoiding the old national road that connects Fier to the city of Vlora.

For the time being, it takes at least 40 minutes to travel through the old road. During the summer season, the holiday-makers frequenting the southern beaches spend several hours on the traffic and suffer hundreds of accidents. But, in a few weeks, this will belong to the past. Fier bypass is toward completion and the travellers will avoid the old road.

During a recent inspection, Director of the Albanian Road Authority Sonila Qato said that this tourist season, citizens will travel through the new 22 kilometre long highway. One lane of the road will open within June, said she./e.xh//j.p./p.s./
