TIRANA, May 30/ATA/- The ruling Socialist Party Parliamentary Group Whip Taulant Balla stated today that Albania will open the EU accession negotiations within 2019 irrespective of the street and non-Parliamentary opposition the political activity of which goes in the opposite direction with European integration and its requirements.
In his speech delivered at the Assembly, Balla emphasized that, “Today is a happy day for all Albanians, and we should accept that the merit of yesterday’s decision of the European Commission goes to the common and honest Albanians who by an absolute majority, 94%, support the European path of Albania”.
The head of the SP Parliamentary group said that, “Irrespective of the importance of yesterday’s decision and the fact of recommending the unconditional opening of negotiations between Albania and the EU, I think that this decision was nothing other than a confirmation or a true reflection of our industrious efforts towards the historical aspirations of Albanians for EU membership.”
