President Meta criticizes EURALIUS and justice reform

TIRANA, May 22/ATA/- President Ilir Meta said today that if justice reform was successful then Albania would not have been even for a minute without a Constitutional Court.

During the speech he delivered at the international conference entitled “Security Challenges in the Balkans and the role of foreign actors in the time of Euro-Atlantic transition”, Meta said that, “We are talking about the great successes of justice reform. I have avoided the issue in public. But, three years have passed since adoption of the justice reform. Now, I say, if the reform was really a success, Albania would not have been left even for a minute without a constitutional court. Reform is not done with rhetoric and pressure, but with standards, if necessary with names.

The president said he has made a lot of efforts, but has faced even with a total irresponsibility of the internationals. And he pointed to the EURALIUS mission that to the request in writing for commitment into this issue, it responded that it was a technical mission.

“The reform will be successful when there is more investment from the US, Britain and others,” said the president.

Speaking about Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Meta said that Albania is simply a supporter of this dialogue./a.g/p.s./
