Exchange rate/Euro dévalues versus Lek

TIRANA, May 15/ATA/-On Wednesday, the European currency Euro hit the lowest level versus the Albanian Lek since the beginning of the year.

According to the official exchange rate of the Bank of Albania, Euro one got exchanged today with 123.26 lekë, about 0.08 points less than yesterday. While the USD has strengthened its position with 0.17 lekë and is exchanged with 109.95 lekë.

According to market actors, in the domestic market there is a high Euro offer while the demand for Euro is still low with an impact on the exchange rate.

According to the main agencies in the country, the business has made a low demand for hard currency because of a fall in circulation. They argue that the political crisis is having an impact on consumption of the individuals; the people are not buying and expenditure is low.

As the summer season approaches, the market actors forecast that the Euro remains weak because of the seasonal impact of hard currency inflow through tourism and the emigrants coming home to spend the vacations.
