TIRANA, March 26/ATA/ “The reconsideration of threat to doctors as a specific penal offence is an indispensability”, said today Prime Minister Edi Rama during a meeting with doctors and heads of medical services on amendments to the Penal Code following acts of violence exerted on the medical staff.
PM Rama warned to toughen punishment measures stipulated in the Penal Code in regard to the violence exerted on the doctors as well as guarantee more quality, security and professionalism for the citizens and the medical staff.
“This is not a new concern hence it cannot remain an open problem and threaten further the tranquillity and security of all the medical professionals in service to people”, said PM Rama while referring to 4 cases of blind aggression to doctors.
The threat of physical security to doctors on duty, according to the prime minister, is unacceptable.
“It must be punished by sentences stipulated in the Penal Code”, said the prime minister while pointing to the corrupted judges who turn into an obstacle to the process.
The prime minister also reminded that no news is good news. Hence, he highlighted the fact that the emergency service has treated 315 thousand cases and there have been numerous cases when they have been successful, but still they have not appeared on the news.
Further on, PM Rama accepted that, “All weaknesses in our medical service have happened because of management rather than the doctors. The management system is not the same in all the hospitals”, said PM Rama./j.p/p.s./
