Amendments to Criminal Code, to build trust in Doctor-Patient relationship

TIRANA, March 26/ATA/- The Albania’s Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ogerta Manastirliu, considered Tuesday the amendments to the Criminal Code as fundamental, with regard to the strengthening of the safety of doctors at work and patient’s safety while receiving care and treatment.

At the today’s meeting with doctors and the leadership in health service on the amendments to the Criminal Code which provides for the punishment of Violence against Medical Personnel, Minister Manastirliu stressed that, “violence against doctors is neither a new phenomenon nor a recent one, but it is a phenomenon that has been part of the period of transition in the country.”

In attendance at the meeting was also the Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama.

“As the result of the lack of trust in the doctor-patient relationship it has not been possible to change during these years, including improvement of doctor’s work environment, as well as increase in salaries of doctors. Today we have gathered together to share the concrete steps in providing more security and protection for doctors at workplace and patient’s safety while receiving medical care, “Manastirliu underlined.//a.i/
