8 municipalities provide one stop shop services

TIRANA, March 21 /ATSH/- One stop shops enable the provision of 76 services on record time, cutting down on bureaucratic procedures from office to office, waiting lines and other formalities.
In 8 municipalities of the country, one stop shop system is fully operational.

The municipalities of Elbasan, Pogradec and Maliq are three out of eight municipalities in the country where the One Stop Shop System (SIZN) is fully operational.
Meanwhile 14 other municipalities are working to replicate this model. Within December 2019 the system will be set to operation in 49 targeted municipalities.
The municipality of Elbasan is the first one which has enabled service delivery through SIZN with the system set to operation in thirteen local government units.
In addition to setting the one- stop shop system to operation, the municipality has put at disposal modern offices for one stop service provision, including the generic hardware and required infrastructure making the services easily accessible to the citizens.

Starting from 2018, the UNDP project STAR2 “Consolidation of Administrative and Territorial Reform” in partnership with the Ministry of Interior and the Agency for Support to Local Self-Government, the National Agency for Information Society and beneficiary municipalities, has advanced the implementation of SIZN. More than 70 administrative services have been catalogued, tested and made available. This has come as a direct response to the demand for quality public services for citizens.
The STAR 2 project is working to strengthen the institutional and administrative capacities of the 61 municipalities of Albania; increasing their efficiency in provision of local services and consolidating local democracy.

STAR 2 is supported by many international development partners through a joint funding mechanism, including: the European Union, the governments of Sweden, Italy and Switzerland, and USAID, UNDP and the Albanian Government. The project is implemented by UNDP in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior.
