TIRANA, March 15/ATA/-After 7 years of dragging, the building works on Tirana-Elbasan motorway will finish within the deadline of May 17, putting an end to years-long problems with this road.
Minister of Infrastructure Belinda Balluku confirmed the news just one day after the left track of this road was opened for movement of vehicles, from Iba crossroads up to the entrance of the tunnel.
“The building of the motorway will finish up to May 17 in line with the contract. The project was launched in 2012 but because of absence of a geological study there happened landslides and the project was dragged for 7 years. Everyone could travel to Elbasan yesterday and this is a fact”, said Balluku.
The minister also emphasized that the National Strategy of Road Safety is being observed.
“We are committed to implement this strategy and have launched two projects on elimination of blackspots on the road axis and the bridges which according to a report happen to be amortized. Following the report, we expect to plan the work and carry out concrete intervention”, said the minister./e.caushi/p.s./
