Agro-tourism, right answer to poverty

TIRANA, March 15 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ “Agro-tourism is the right answer to poverty,” PM Edi Rama stated from Berat assuring all those keen to invest in this area that thanks to govt.-launched incentives in this sector the profit is certain.

In the light of “Municipality we want” tour, PM Edi Rama held a meeting on Friday with the residents of Berat.
Here in Berat we look to the future, PM said while speaking about the daily increase in the number of tourists but also the growing volume of small-sized enterprises.

“The number of guesthouses will be on increase so as to capitalize on the cultural heritage to the benefit of household economy. There is a great potential to boost development of agriculture and agro-tourism as well as to transform the village houses into guesthouses,” Rama said.

The govt. policies in the sector of agro-tourism, according to Rama, serve as a stimulus to all those wanting to invest in their houses or dwelling of their ancestors in the village transforming the latter into income-generating instruments.

As to local elections in June, Rama said we are not in race with those who have turned their back on the country to head for an unknown direction despite the problems of people, unemployment, poverty and corruption.

What we have done in the last 4 years speaks for itself in the city of Berat. The city has changed beyond recognition, yet a lot remains to be done. In the rural area of Berat where thanks to the work and govt. support people have increased exports twice as high, people continue to grapple with issues.
