TIRANA, July 28/ATA / – Rich in dense forests, clean lakes and an almost unexplored nature, Funari is one of the greatest attractions in Elbasan, but also in the country.
The hard infrastructure has made it difficult for tourists to visit the area, which is located about 20 km from Elbasan.
Thanks to the promotion of the area and the infrastructural arrangements, Funari remains a hidden gem of mountain tourism in Albania.
Aiming at the promotion and turning the area into a tourist destination, the Municipality of Elbasan is planning to carry out the construction of a highway passing through the villages that would link directly Funar with Tirana as well as having a huge impact on their revitalization.
Situated just 20km from Elbasan and 25km from Tirana, only few people know this miracle of nature. Rich in pine-oak forests, Funari offers a healthy climate and traditional food of the area.
Funari is the ideal place to spend the weekends.
But in addition to the natural landscape, Funari is also an archaeological site.
In 1967, archaeological excavations discovered some tile slabs covering tombs built of stone walls. There were skeletons which were not completely damaged. They belong to a very ancient period, perhaps prior to the era of Pelasgian.
