TIRANA, July 15 /ATA/- Urban agriculture – a new concept, a new way of nutrition, is the highlight of a project initiated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development with aim to sensitizing urban consumers about food products.
Dhimitër Kote, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, told ATA that this type of agriculture will have a direct impact on urban ecosystem, but also on development of other branches of the economy.
In essence, urban agriculture is about agricultural activities that are limited to land plots close to the houses, in lands far from places of residence, private lands or agricultural lands on rent
According to him, this agriculture produces agricultural and livestock food products, which involve relatively simple works that can be carried out in a traditional way in house conditions.
In Tirana, for example, Kote points out, the practice of urban farming is spreading rapidly. Recently, the number of private houses growing fruit -trees is increasing at such rates that this agriculture has become a reality.
