Marin Barleti’s unknown manuscript discovered

TIRANA, June 23 /ATA/-Scholar Lucia Nadin and historian Aurel Plasari discovered an unknown text of Marin Barleti following several years of individual and joint research. Barleti is considered the first Albanian historian.

The text was found at the National Library of France where it was sent from Venice. This happens to be the earliest manuscript by Barleti.

Speaking to ATA, Nadin emphasized the fact that she worked together with Plasari for years on end.

“Some data led us to think that Marin Barleti had written something before the two works published. After several years of research we identified this manuscript telling about Shkodra Siege, but in an earlier version published in 1504”, explains she.

On his part, Plasari highlighted the fact that the document dates back earlier than it was thought and this is rendered in correction of the history.

Nadin and Plasari appreciated it a luxurious copy prepared for publication.

A copy of this manuscript in the digital version will be given to the National Library./z.tosku//r.e/p.s./
