TIRANA, June 19 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ Construction of 4 and 5 -star hotels in Albania will attract international brands improving the image of the country when it comes to safety and quality of services.
At a meeting in Durrës with tour operators, PM Edi Rama said there is a new approach to tourism development and a great interest in construction of 4 and 5 -star hotels.
Speaking about the legislative measures in support of incentive package for investors in 4 and 5 star hotels, Rama said that this makes us a highly competitive country in the region as far as our advantages are concerned.
“There is a lot of misunderstanding these investments, such as: they are meant for the rich. As a matter of fact, right here in this investment which, I hope will be internationally rated as a 5-star hotel, we are on the site of a former ruined building,” Rama said.
“Today, according to him, this investment numbers 60 employees and 15 vacancies of all categories. The hotel is packed with foreign tourists, who spend money daily,” Rama said adding that the beneficiaries are both the entrepreneur and the state
PM informed the participants of a meeting with a group of investors from many countries, who have taken interest in building 5 -star hotels and in introducing the brands that change the image of our country regarding safety and quality of services.
Albania, Rama said, is one of the safest countries in the planet. PM cited the example of two Norwegian tourists who had come to Albania for the third time due to three reasons: safety, affordable prices and extraordinary hospitality.
Once Albania has 5- star hotels dotted around the country, as all across the Mediterranean, according to Rama, these investments will speak for themselves.
Outlining his vision on tourism development, PM Rama brought to attention the example of Montenegro, which in the ‘90ies was the “black sheep” of the region.
“To date it is regarded as a country of beauty and wonder. Montenegro has embraced a far-sighted policy which took a lot of patience and sacrifice leaping to another category. They had nothing more but a man of far-sighted vision and determination at the helm for over 20 years,” Rama said.
