TIRANA, June 19/ATA/-Albania’s Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy Dajna Sorensen said on Tuesday that 42 thousand persons are actually employed in the tourism sector while the new entrepreneurs and hotels are opening new jobs.
Attending the meeting on tourism held in Durrës, Sorensen emphasized that every new job opened in tourism sector creates even 1.5 other new jobs in support sectors.
She emphasized the growing demand of the businesses for staff, but only the individuals who have carried out vocational education can meet this requirement.
“The government has made a lot of efforts to promote vocational education which makes it easier integration of the young people in the labour market. Among 35 schools of vocational education in Albania, 11 of them are on hotel management and are attended by 2800 pupils”, said the deputy minister.
According to her, 66% of those graduating from vocational education can find job within six months. While 80% of the pupils who attend branches of hotel management and tourism are employed right away.
“Tourism is the sector that guarantees employment”, said the deputy minister. e.xh/p.s./
