TIRANA, June 5 /ATA/-Albania’s tourism industry is undergoing a rapid development while it is expected that about 10 million foreign tourists visit Albania annually within the next five years, said Prime Minister Edi Rama in his speech at the event marking opening of the tourist season in Vlora resort.
PM Rama said that the government targets to transform Albania into a main destination of the Mediterranean offer for the international markets of tourism.
To meet this target, the government has introduced tax incentives like 6% tourism tax as compared to 20% it used to be and it has lifted VAT on the new 4-5 star hotels over a period of ten years.
The prime minister said that the international media writing more and more on Albania’s tourism was not a surprise because the programme of Urban Revival has been the main instrument of the government which has a crystal clear target in this process of transformation./e.caushi/p.s./
