TIRANA, May 27 /ATA/- Mountain tourism has become a big draw for visitors, mainly for foreign tourists. The Albanian Alps, part of Europe’s great mountain range, represent the most important mountain tourism area.
The tourist attractions, Thethi, Boga, Razma, Vermoshi, Lëpusha, Fushëzeza, Valbona, Rragami, Currajt e Epërm, etc, part of Albanian Alps have undoubtedly enchanted any visitor.
Therefore, their development and promotion is the main goal of Albanian govt, which has designed a master plan to make them easily accessible as part of tourism development in these areas.
The master plan aims to unlock tourist potentials of entire region and promote their sustainable use in harmony with nature with view to generating long-term economic growth for residents of the area and national economy.
Thanks to their natural beauty and harmonious blend with mountains, Albanian Alps have been rightly described as the most enchanting in the world.
Despite their potentials, the lack of infrastructure makes them less attractive. To make these areas more accessible, the master plan entails the necessary interventions and investments in roads, water supply network, outpatient clinics, urban infrastructure and public transport.
Work on drafting a marketing strategy as well as a diversified tourist offer and on orienting business investments is in the pipeline as part of the goal to capitalize on the values of this zone from historic and culture perspective.
Meanwhile, World Bank and Albanian Development Fund are working on a new project on connectivity of regional and rural roads
The World Bank Executive Board approved a month ago a new project that will provide a $ 50 million funding and envisages the rehabilitation of 55km of roads in order to improve access to several agricultural and tourist centers in the country. Part of this project is also the road segment Qafe Thore-Theth.
