PM Rama: Opposition protest aims at forestalling Albania’s EU integration process

TIRANA, May 25 /ATA/-By I. Vata/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama on Friday reacted to a planned opposition protest, describing it an attempt by the main opposition Democratic Party leader Lulzim Basha to capture a photograph and make an international news story in order to forestall Albania’s European Union integration process.

“Whoever will follow the opposition leader should know that the wiretapping is a falsification made by the traitors who oppose opening of the EU accession negotiations with Albania,” PM Rama via a Facebook statement.

“Lulëzim Basha wants you to take a photograph and make a story on international media the headline: Albania in a protest against drug trafficker Interior Minister! Whoever follows him should not repent, saying I wish I knew the wiretapping was a falsification by the new traitors to block opening the accession negotiations with the EU,” the government head wrote.

The main opposition parties are preparing for a protest on Saturday in Tirana, calling for the resignation of the Interior Minister Fatmir Xhafaj.

A day ago, the opposition boycotted a parliamentary resolution expressing support for the launch of negotiations on joining the European Union.
