Thaçi: Dialogue with Serbia must conclude with reciprocal recognition

TIRANA, May 9/ATA/-Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi stated on Wednesday that his country is committed to peace and stability in the Western Balkans and EU integration while Kosovo and Serbia must normalize the relations and implement bilateral agreements.

Thaçi made the statement during a joint news conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin.

He said that Kosovo is ready to reach an agreement through dialogue for normalization of relations with Serbia.

President Thaçi said that the agreement would open a new epoch of peace and reconciliation between the two peoples. He emphasized that the agreement must carry reciprocal recognition because that’s the only way to remove barriers for Kosovo and Serbia membership into the EU.

“The EU must continue to mediate in the process and the role of Chancellor Merkel is welcome”, said  Thaçi. /KosovaPress//m.z//r.e/p.s./
