TIRANA, May 7 /ATA/ – We will promote anything beautiful about Shkodra and Albania, said the head of EU Delegation in Tirana, Romana Vlahutin, who started off Europe Week tour from Shkodra.
I come from a city, which has had a long-standing relationship with Shkodra, as Dubrovnik is. We will promote anything beautiful about Shkodra and Albania. With Voltana (the mayor) we inspected every inch of this lake shore foreseeing what we are going to do here. Shkodra is part of the projects that will be financed by EU, Vlahutin said.
Yesterday evening, ambassador Vlahutin joined the activities held on Flowers’ Day.
She stated that Albanian people deserves Europe adding that European Union is not a union of politicians but a union of people.
This is the most beautiful start of Europe Week. I have come with a handful of EU members’ ambassadors, Shkodra is one of my favourite cities. Shkodra people are European for hundreds of centuries, Albanians are European people, what we intend to do is bring in the European standards here,” Vlahutin said.
Albania has received from the EC unconditional recommendation for opening the EU accession, whereas at the end of June the Council of Ministers of EU countries will vote whether Albania will open accession negotiations or not.
