TIRANA, May 7/ATA/-The bilateral agreement between Albania and Greece must be fair and applicable by the two sides.
Albania’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ditmir Bushati said on Monday that the dates and deadlines of the negotiations are in essence motivating. But, on the other hand, in the case in question, the dates and the deadlines are not a target in themselves.
FM Bushati emphasized that the important thing is to have a healthy process and possibly move toward a new and fair agreement which at the end of the day must be applicable by both sides. It must be an agreement that opens a new chapter in the relations between Albania and Greece.
“In regard to Greek support for Albania beginning the EU membership negotiations, we positively assess that as a gesture of support and generosity. Greece is the country that has contributed the most to Albania’s integration process”, said FM Bushati.
The first round of the negotiations between Albania and Greece on the maritime border was held on April 30 in Tirana. The meeting took place in a constructive and cooperative climate, is said in the press release of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
Meanwhile, a second round of negotiations is expected to take place in Athens./gj.mima/ /a.g/p.s./
