TIRANA, April 24/ATA/-The interest rate of the treasury bills and two-year bonds fell at Tuesday’s auction of the Bank of Albania reflecting the ratio between the demand and offer at the government debt market.
The 12-month treasury bills were put up for auction at an average interest rate of 2.34%. The interest rate is cut for the fifth consecutive auction. The two-year bonds are following a similar trend. At the auction last week, the interest rate fell to 2.98%.
At Tuesday’s auction, the demand reached the value of 11.6 billion leks, while the amount the government declared was 8.2 billion leks.
According to experts, the low interest rates of the treasury bills are affected by loans in local currency which continue to be cheap, favouring consumption and new investments in economy. e.xh/ /a.g/p.s./
