TIRANA, April 20/ATA/-The Independent Evaluation Commission removed from office Prosecutor at the Court of Appeal of Shkodra Besa Nikëhasani for failing to justify her wealth.
The Commission gathered on Friday to give the final verdict on Prosecutor Nikëhasani who appeared in front of the vetting commission two day ago.
The Relater of the case Genta Bungo said that the High Inspectorate of Declaration and Audit of Assets and Conflict of Interests examined the case and reached to the conclusion that the prosecutor had already declared her wealth. But, a more thorough investigation conducted by the Independent Evaluation Commission brought to the limelight that Shkodra prosecutor didn’t justify the legal source of two apartments in Tirana and one in Lezha, two garages in Tirana and a car.
On her part, the prosecutor rejected the claims of the Commission arguing that she didn’t hide her wealth and that some inaccuracies in her statements happened because of some errors in the course of years. The prosecutor said that in 2009 she declared the possession of the two garages and added that she received a loan to buy the car. She said she bought the off-road vehicle because her old one crashed twice while in 2003 trinitrotoluene was put in her car.
Besa Nikëhasani is the first prosecutor summoned in a hearing session by the Independent Evaluation Commission.
The Commission has vetted up to now three judges and one prosecutor while 800 others are expected to undergo vetting countrywide. 16 prosecutors and judges have already withdrawn from the justice system./af/ /a.g/p.s./
