After recommendation, Albania needs to deepen reforms

TIRANA, April 20 /ATA/- After recommendation from EC for opening the accession negotiations, Albania needs to keep the momentum of recently started reforms and deepen the reforms which will have a direct impact on citizens.

While the govt. has started lobbying for Albania in all member countries of EU, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ditmir Bushati in an interview with ERTV broadcast said that there is a strategy in place to receive a positive answer in June.

He termed the recommendation a certification of Albanian output, reforms.
The EC is the technical army of EU which has certified the Albanian outcome with regard to reforms that Albania has launched in the last couple of years, as of 2016 when the recent progress report was launched.

We will work with all member countries to successfully deliver on this recommendation which has been proposed by EC to member countries.

Asked what will happen if our country does not receive a positive response in June, he said that the latter is unlikely to happen for as long as Albania is gearing up for an economic and democratic transformation, Bushati said.

“Albania does not have any alternative to the European integration process and in our conditions, it is about a process of transformation, economic, democratic and social development,” Bushati said.

He agreed with DP leader Lulzim Basha saying that the opening of negotiations as soon as possible would set the country on the track to transformation and development, and will increase EU pressure for implementation of ongoing reforms.
