TIRANA, April 19/ATA/-The Chairman of the Democratic Party in opposition Lulzim Basha told the Parliament that his party has demanded Albania’s opening of the EU accession negotiations given that it is the greatest aspiration of the Albanians.
Basha said that European Commission’s recommendation for Albania’s opening of the negotiations also implies that Europe is determined to make us part of the EU.
According to him, the EU integration is the only way of building a real democracy in Albania, the rule of law, clean Albania of drugs, separate politics from crime and escape from social economic catastrophe. And it is also an instrument of building reliable institutions.
On her part, the Chairperson of the Socialist Movement for Integration Monika Kryemadhi said in her speech delivered to the Parliament that EC’s recommendation is big news for the Albanians. And there is no doubt of Albania’s European belonging. But, we want a real integration into the EU, not just a photo show to tell Albanians we are part of Europe, said Kryemadhi. She added that the ruling majority speaks of concrete results, but little is done to detain the masterminds of crime while Kukës protesters against toll on the road are still in prison.
While the Chairperson of the Parliamentary group of the ruling Socialist Party Taulant Balla said that it is high time to extend the hand of cooperation and be united on our way toward Europe while meeting the EU criteria.
He emphasized that the EC recommendation is a positive assessment of Albania’s constant progress in meeting the key integration priorities. /m.marini/ /a.g/p.s./
