TIRANA, April 16/ATA/-Albania’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has public security high on its priority list.
“Force of the Law” operation is one of the instruments to improve public security and according to Interior Minister Fatmir Xhafaj, the relevant Task Force has managed to create a gang database of all the criminal gangs operating in the country.
Attending the “Citizen Forum on Public Security” held in Elbasan, Minister Xhafaj said that there will be waged an uncompromised fight against organized crime.
“State Police is facing important challenges. The Police is committed to fight crime and prevent terrorism phenomenon. There is also a concrete plan of measures, like the Force of the Law operation which is focused on dealing blows to the criminal gangs hurting not only public order and security, but damaging even the country’s image”, said Xhafaj.
“We have created a gang database of all criminal gangs active in the country, but that have extended their activity even abroad. We are in the beginning of a process and have up to now dealt blows to 7 criminal gangs composed by about 100 persons. We are committed to bring to justice all the persons involved, but even to deal with the wealth they have accumulated”, said the minister.
