Justice reform increases confidence of citizens, 871 complaints in 6 months

TIRANA, April 16 /ATA/- From October 2017 to March 2018, the Independent Qualification Committee has received some 871 complaints about judges and prosecutors with the first ones targeted the most.

Enforcement of justice reform has increased public confidence in justice system, meanwhile the vetting of justice is well underway.

Until now two judges have been fired as they have failed the vetting.

Independent Qualification Commission confirmed to ATA that most of the complaints are targeted on judges, whereas the number of complaints about the prosecutors is much smaller.

These reports are filed with IQC which assesses their accuracy on a case-to-case basis.

Independent Qualification Commission brings to attention that its task does not entail re-examination of the court decisions, instead its task involves gathering data and concrete evidence about corrupt affairs or legal violations committed by judges and prosecutors, who are subject to vetting.

In their complaints filed with IQC, the citizens have put forth the same legal grounds as in their cases.
