“The two governments are currently in a process of taking the relations to a higher level by addressing pending issues between the two countries and therefore removing the stereotypes and prejudices that hamper the bilateral relationship’s full potential to thrive. I’m convinced that through the strong commitment and political will of the two countries and their respective leadership, we can achieve the successful outcome of the process. This is what our peoples want.” Surani said.
The Greek Ambassador also highlighted Greece’s role in maintaining regional peace as the oldest EU and NATO member in the region.
“Being the oldest EU and NATO member in the region, Greece has a specific responsibility to promote peace in our region and beyond. We develop our relations with our neighbours and Albania in this spirit,” she said.
Ambassador Surani affirmed her country’s support for Albania.
“Greece has been a fiery supporter of Albania in every step towards its Euro-Atlantic path. Albanians know that in the tough ’90s, Greece proved to be a real friend. And I can assure you that every success of Albania in all areas is a source of inspiration for Greece,” she concluded.
