TIRANA, March 15 /ATA/ – By I. Vata/ – Parliamentary session on Thursday started with debates on economic scheme reform.
The questions and answers’ session was requested by DP, which claims that over 20 thousand families have been unfairly cut off from the scheme.
The DP head Lulzim Basha said that the country has plunged into a deep socio-economic crisis from which the govt. intends to divert the attention through attacks on opposition.
“The main concern of the govt. is not to tackle the issue but to point the finger somewhere else, to blame the opposition for thousands of families deprived of economic assistance without no explanation why they been left out of the scheme,” he said.
It is true that reform of economic assistance was started by our government, but one of the main criteria was transparency of scoring system which would be explicit about the criteria and the threshold for benefiting the economic assistance.
The reform initiated in 2012 is held hostage by the government to make the poor a scapegoat, to cut them off from the scheme, to subdue and despise them in order to buy them off in local elections, Basha said.
For his part, the chairman of DP parliamentary group Edmond Spaho said that exclusion of roughly 20 thousand families from economic scheme is not transparent and falls against the social standards written into article 52 of the Constitution.
