TIRANA, March 15 /ATA/ – By I. Vata/ -“ Entitlement to full economic assistance rather than partial for the poorest. Under this reform, economic assistance system will be freed from control of the government, the ruling party or the bribe,” this is what Minister of Tourism and Environment, Blendi Klosi, said in parliament during a heated debate on economic assistance reform.
Klosi said: “It’s normal for the system to be the target of criticism, however you should make your case for improving this system with worthy proposals if you have any.
Can you say that this system is not up to the standards, is neither professional nor fair. There are many poor families out there. This system in place has been designed to target the poverty. The truth of the matter is that the fund earmarked for this category, which is 30 percent higher than the time you were in govt., will be fairly divided among the poor.
It is an automated system which checks personal data provided by the applicant and verifies compliance with those on the system, Klosi said.
Retorting to the opposition MPs, Klosi said: You did nothing whatsoever, you built no data base, all you did was a gathering of local council to assess the needy at first sight.
The automated social assistance system is definitely part of the major reform of social re-integration. Economic assistance is not the reform in itself, instead it is one of the aspects of social re-integration.
