TIRANA, March 13/ATA/-The national programme of “100 villages” does not restrict the country’s rural development only in 100 villages, but sets a model to encourage development in all the country’s territory, said Prime Minister Edi Rama on Tuesday.

The prime minister made the statement during a meeting with local residents of Tregan village in Elbasan, central Albania, in the context of the National Programme of Rural Revival.

He expressed his conviction that Elbasan has a great potential of development in agriculture and agri-tourism. Therefore, according to PM Rama, even the number of selected villages is greater than in some other regions because Elbasan has a natural heritage, beauty and tradition, which are easily marketable in the field of agri-tourism.

“Through creating models that speak for themselves, we shall have a chain reaction, like we did during the first mandate of the Urban Revival, a process underway countrywide,” said PM Rama.

The prime minister said that the spa area in Elbasan is a strategic spot connected directly with development and economy of all this area.

In this respect, PM Rama urged entering into another phase with a real investment and development programme based on ambition of having an excellent curative area.

According to the prime minister, a higher quality in the spa area and notable improvement of the services creates the conditions of having a multi-fold increase of the number of visitors.

The prime minister said that agri-tourism is one of the things that can develop through the private initiative within the village. He added that the government can only support this initiative.

“On one hand there is agriculture and livestock and on the other hand exploitation of the natural resources and tradition through investments in infrastructure that will transform these areas into attractive spots”, said PM Rama.

Hence, it is created the “100 village” programme in which are involved 4 ministries as well as the Agency of Agriculture and Rural Development that has a special financial invoice and a fund of 11 million Euros from the EU for supporting these initiatives”.

PM Rama said that agri-tourism can develop successfully in every place on condition of a good project and great organization between the individual and the state.

PM Rama pledged that the government will do its best to give a strong impetus to the rural areas./a.g/p.s./
