TIRANA, March 12 /ATA / – Albania has drawn praise from numerous operators and international visitors for its landscape, nature, scenery regarded as the strong points of tourist Albania.
Conservation and rural areas in Albania offer great potentials for development of rural, mountainous tourism, ecotourism, agro-tourism and outdoor activities (rafting, parachuting, mountain biking, trekking, climbing, hiking, horseback riding, study tours, etc.).
Some of these activities are a big draw for visitors keen on nature.
Outdoor activities are much on demand in international tourism market.
Currently, developments in this type of tourism are focused on the national level, since there is not a consolidated cooperation network involving the actors in organization of tourism (MICE) at international level, which would improve this tourist product in Albanian market and play a major part in attraction of foreign visitors. The main impediment to promotion of this product in Albania, according to the Ministry of Tourism, is the lack of congress infrastructure (congress centres) and poor management of retail systems that are not competitive yet.
Year 2017 has seen over 1.2 mln nature tourists from other countries. This number is expected to increase twofold up to 2022 thanks to an assessment and infrastructure improvement projects launched by the Albanian govt. and Ministry of Tourism and Environment. In the years to come, the project of 100 villages is expected to be launched in the tourist market as an added value to the country’s tourism and economy. /n.lena/ /a.g/sm/
