Prime Minister Edi Rama shared today in the social media a view of flocks of birds flying over Lake Shkodra in the village of Zogaj.

Zogaj is well-known as an old fishing village and, together with Shiroka, is among the most beautiful areas of Northern Albania. This area is also known for the production of traditional carpets, a tradition that is still fanatically preserved by the local women of the area. Weaving products have become a favorite among tourists over the years.

Zogaj is well-known not only for fishing, medicinal herbs, wild nature and alpine climate, but also for traditional cuisine. Here you can find the famous carp casserole, a traditional dish of this fish, which the residents preserve with passion.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared today in the social media a video showing numerous tourists who are visiting this Shkodra village.

Rama wrote that Zogaj is one of the six villages of Albania that apply to the program “Best tourist villages” of the World Tourism Organization, presenting the identity, life, colors and extraordinary experiences of the rural Albania.

“Zogaj, the village of the artisans, fishermen and one of the special tourist attractions of Shkodra, brings to the limelight its natural and cultural treasures even as one of the six villages of Albania that apply to the World Tourism Organization program “Best tourist villages”, presenting the identity, life, colors and extraordinary experiences of the rural Albania”, wrote Rama.

This village is bordered to the north by Lake Shkodra, to the south by Mount Tarabosh, to the east by the Buna River, and to the west by the state border with Montenegro.

Rama emphasized that the last part of Shiroka-Zogaj road, a new border point with Montenegro, passes over the village of Zogaj, but is practically opened as a new track on an existing path.

Meanwhile, Rama added, the entire segment from Shiroka onwards will also have sidewalks and bicycle lanes.

This project is being implemented by the ALB Star company, which won the 4.7-million-euro contract, while the works are expected to be completed on October 2, 2025.

Shiroka-Zogaj Road-New border point with Montenegro (Krajë) is part of the investment mosaic on the western shore of Lake Shkodra. This road is expected to promote tourism in the area, in addition to have a better access to infrastructure for local communities. /j.p/p.s./

The UEFA Referees Committee announced the group of referees who will handle the matches for the UEFA Euro 2024 that will be played between June 14 and July 14.

The Referees Committee in UEFA has appointed 18 referees and their assistants who will judge the 51 challenges of “Euro 2024”. The linesman Bekim Zogaj is among the appointed referees.

“It is an honor and a privilege to be appointed as an assistant referee for the 2024 European Championship in Germany,” Zogaj wrote on social networks.
