TIRANA, June 28 /ATA/ The youth labour market pursued its positive trajectory during the second quarter of 2025.

According to the most recent data released by the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT), the employment rate for the 15-29 age group increased by 0.9 percentage points relative to the first quarter of the year, and by 1.4 percentage points compared to the final quarter of 2024.

At the same time, the unemployment rate for the same age group has seen a notable decline.

Currently, youth unemployment stands at 17.9%, representing a decrease of 2.4 percentage points compared to the first quarter of 2024 and a reduction of 1.3 percentage points compared to the end of that year.

A large proportion of young people who are economically inactive—that is, neither employed nor actively seeking employment—report that they are pupils, students, or engaged in various forms of training.

Specifically, 72.7% of economically inactive young people belong to this category.

Meanwhile, a minimal proportion—merely 1.1%—are categorised as discouraged unemployed, referring to young individuals who have ceased seeking employment due to a lack of confidence in their prospects of securing a job.

The data indicate a favourable trajectory in the youth labour market, driven by emerging economic dynamics, proactive employment policies, and enhanced engagement in educational and vocational training programmes. /a.gj/j.p/sm/
