TIRANA, August 13/ATA/ Xhubleta is put on display in all its dimensions in the traditional festival that promotes highland traditions and is named as the “Highland Meadow”.

Prime Minister Edi Rama wrote about the event and shared a photo of this four-thousand-year-old Albanian dress.

“Its beauty is protected by the UNESCO, as an expression of care for our national culture with rich and inalienable values”, emphasized further on the head of the government.

In Malesia e Madhe, the cultural event that has become a tradition, “Highland Meadow”, brings together artists, singers and dancers with a focus on promoting tourism and cultural heritage. This artistic event is a unique display of folklore and jubilation.

The four-thousand-year-old Albanian xhubleta was accepted on November 28, 2022 in the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage under the protection of UNESCO. The clothing symbol of our heritage is now the property of all mankind.

Xhubleta is known as the traditional clothing of Highland women. The file of xhubleta handicrafts was submitted to UNESCO because the unique traditional dress was in danger of being lost.

Xhubleta is a handmade garment worn by women and girls in Northern Albania, a thick bell-formed skirt. Xhubleta used to be worn in everyday life from the age of puberty. It indicated the social and economic status of the women. However, its use and production has been declining during the last decades for socio-political and economic reasons. /r.e/a.f/p.s./

TIRANA, December 13 /ATA/ The Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage Shkodra shared in its online pages the private collection of Ilirjan Velo. He fanatically preserves a precious collection of the Albanian traditional dress, the xhubleta, of Dukagjini, Malësi e Madhe, Koman, and Rugova. This is an impressive private collection of the xhubletas that Velo has inherited as a family fortune because of their artistic, historical value and the social sensibility of the time.

The rich colors of the clothing elements, once made by hand, are complemented by the magic of jewelry, which best expresses the age, family and social position of the woman in society.

An avid collector since childhood, Velo has managed to take care to keep a valuable heirloom that can be handed over to future generations as a way of commemorating important events and people in his own life and the history of his family and society. This collection of xhubleta dresses has its own special value, as pride in the ancestors and their creations./p.s./
