TIRANA, Sept 12 /ATA/ Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, participated on Monday in the “Shaping of Feminist Foreign Policy” conference in Berlin.

In her remarks, Xhaçka said that “the Feminist Foreign Policy is an important platform that aims to expand and strengthen the network of gender equality advocates.”

Xhaçka added that “despite the challenges we are facing, this agenda has not been left aside.”

“The representation of women at the table remains a top priority, especially in these times,” Xhaçka emphasized.

Xhaçka went on saying that, “the representation of women is a pressing issue. In Albania, we realized this late after seeing what a difference the inclusion of women in decision-making levels made.”

She underlined that, “Albania currently has one of the highest percentages of women ministers in the world. 60% of all middle and high level positions in the public administration are held by women.”
“There is still a long way to go, but the impact is tangible. This experience of ours pushed us to make the empowerment of women a key pillar of our foreign policy,” she said.

Xhaçka added that, “Agenda for Women, Peace and Security is at the top of our priorities in the Security Council. We already have a National Strategy for Gender Equality for the next 10 years.”
