TIRANA, March 29 /ATA/- By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama announced on Wednesday that 32% of the total number of employees in construction receive minimum wages and , according to him, this is unacceptable and the government will not tolerate it any more.

Rama visited on Wednesday the company “Kika” ltd, which is among the first enterprises in the field of construction with 100 employees, as part of the meetings on increase of minimum wage and the transformation of the wage system in the country.

The Prime Minister said that everything the construction entrepreneur has achieved is thanks to the human capital, thanks to the employees who implement the beautiful projects regardless of the investment.

Rama said that in total there are 5930 companies operating in the construction industry that have a total number of 53 277 employees.

“At the time when this company entered the market, apartments were sold for $300 per square meter, so the salary of $300 or $400 was out of question. While now when the square meter in Tirana has exceeded 1 thousand euros, I cannot see the point of paying a minimum wage for 32% of the total number of employees in the construction sector. So there are 17,188 employees who receive the minimum wage,” said Rama.

According to him, “this is exploitation of employees should not be tolerated .”

Nowadays the economy and production guarantee not only profits for the enterprise, but income that could go far beyond the wages that are paid or declared. /r.e/sm/
