TIRANA, October 14 /ATA/ – “Wonders of Arbëria” was a unique spectacle to the stage of the Opera and Ballet House dedicated to Albanian folklore, traditions and national cultural heritage.

The artists of the National Ensemble of Folk Songs and Dances, together with the “Kurbini Spring” ensemble, offered an evening filled with color, rhythm and emotion to the audience. The performance was received with applause from a hall packed with art lovers who, through music, song and dance, reconnected with the roots of Albanian culture.

The spectacle was a combination of the epic sounds of the lute, the magic of Albanian polyphony, and the energy of the Tropoja dance. A special place was also reserved for the “xhubleta”, sleeveless woolen dress—a symbol of our cultural heritage—alongside motifs showcasing the stone cities and the ancient tradition of transhumance, the seasonal movement of livestock from one grazing area to another. The evening also featured masters of Albanian folklore—such as Vendim Kapaj playing the shepherd’s flute and Pjetër Matusha with the traditional lute, alongside a two-stringed lute ensemble—who helped pass on these musical sounds and traditions across generations.

Through this performance, “Arbëria Wonders” highlighted the diversity of Albanian folklore and the importance of preserving and promoting it. The event brought together music, dance, traditional attire and cultural memory, transforming the stage into a space where Albanian tradition continues to live on and be passed down to younger generations. /j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, January 14 /ATA/ Albania with its natural beauty, hospitality and special cuisine continues to attract the attention of the international media.

This time it is the BBC World News, one of the most famous shows in the world on the treasures of the earth that promotes touristic Albania.

Prime Minister Edi Rama also shared in the social media the BBC advertising spot.

“One of the most famous shows in the world about the treasures of the earth, which has an audience of half a billion viewers a year, and on January 21-22 shows “Miracles of Albania” on the BBC WORLD NEWS channel, something unimaginable until Albania was a tourist destination. It started to take the form that we are giving it year after year”, emphasized Rama.

In the BBC spot, followers are invited to explore the beauties of Albania, from the amazing Roman cities, to the archeology of the early Middle Ages, from the jewels of the Ottoman civilization, to the brutal communist bunkers.

“I will discover the diverse culture of this enigmatic land”, is the invitation addressed to BBC followers.

Referring to official statistics, 7.5 million foreign tourists visited our country during 2022, entrusting Albania with their vacations, not only during the summer season but also during other seasons of the year.

The data says that there are 1.9 million more than in 2021 and 18% more than in 2019, which until now held the record of numbers.

Also, there were observed interesting data of new markets that are growing rapidly. 85% more visitors from England; 3.7 times more visitors from Spain; 2 times more visitors from Slovenia; 3 times more visitors from the Netherlands; 84% more visitors from Turkey; 2 times more from the Nordic countries; without forgetting the guests from Kosovo, Macedonia and entries from other Balkan countries. /j.p/p.s./
