“Albania is a woman, Europe is a woman,” Socialist Party kicks off campaign with socialist women and girls

TIRANA, April 11 /ATA/- By Maela Marini/ The Socialist Party is organizing on Friday at the National Theater of Opera and Ballet the event “Socialist Girls and Women for Albania 2030,” which is in the run-up to the launch of the campaign for the May 11 elections.
“Albania is a woman, Europe is a woman” is the motto of this meeting with socialist women from all 12 districts of the country.
During the opening of the meeting, Evis Kushi, Secretary of the SP’s Women Forum, commended the contributions of women to the political party and the values they contribute.
“Today, our large socialist family includes 38,500 women and girls. The decision to have both a man and a woman co-lead organizations has been the best one we’ve made. Currently, this initiative is active in 95% of socialist organizations nationwide. The Socialist Party is now much stronger and more connected to the people,” said Kushi.
Kushi emphasized that in the Socialist Party’s candidate lists for the May 11 elections, 38% are women and girls, while in the closed lists, the figure rises to 52%. According to her, this translates into greater attention in parliament to address domestic violence, women’s health, and better laws for children’s education.

In her speech, the Secretary of the Socialist Party added that today, after 12 years, she feels proud of the choices she has made, considering it an honor and privilege to have held several important positions within the party. “However, there is no greater privilege for me than leading the Socialist Women’s Forum of Albania. Today, we are 38,500 women and girls, about 36%, and one of the best decisions we made was the co-leadership of organizations by a man and a woman,” said Kushi.

Manastirliu: Socialist Party will secure a minimum of 19 seats and will aim for 20th seat in Tirana

The political leader of the Socialist Party in the Tirana district, Ogerta Manastirliu, expressed that women are not just a part of this political force, but its heart.

“This is a reality built by Edi Rama and the Socialist Party, by believing in the women and girls of this country and increasing their representation at every level of government,” said Manastirliu, while also presenting the women and girls fielded in the race for the district of Tirana district.

Manastirliu expressed conviction that thanks to the contribution of women and girls, the SP is headed towards the victory of the fourth term.
Spiropali: Today, women and girls account for 50% of government, and same is true for local councils
The political leader of the Socialist Party in the Tirana district, Elisa Spiropali, stated that socialists know how to be self-critical, refresh their teams, and always have better alternatives.

“This political force and its leader have, over the years, provided women with this significant space, and they have known how to reciprocate,” said Spiropali, further adding, “Our mission for the May 11 elections is not just any contest; it is a race for a European Albania.”
