TIRANA, Nov 16 /ATA/ The “Pupa Winery” in Peshtan of Poliçan, thanks to the government support through the ARDA and the IPARD II program, has built a guesthouse to welcome local and foreign tourists.
Prime Minister Edi Rama, accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Frida Krifca, visited this winery on Wednesday.

Minister Krifca said that “in the winery there is a very good investment in terms of technology”.
There was also a group of Italian sommeliers in the winery who, in a conversation with Prime Minister Rama about the quality of the wine there, said that “during the fairs in Milan, Italy, many visitors liked the Albanian wine and asked us to bring it to Europe”.

“Albania and Italy are opposite each other, the temperatures and the soil are suitable to advance interesting projects for local products such as olive oil, wine and brandy. We are here to contribute and help Albanian producers to give an added value to this premium wine,” said the representative of the association of Italian sommeliers.

“Pupa Winery” is located only 10 km from the city of Berat, in the village of Fushë Peshtan, with 30 hectares of vineyards, 1000 olive trees, 2 wine tasting rooms and 15 bedrooms, all offered as part of the agritourism.
Agritourism has become an excellent model of business to retain people in the countryside and ensure sustainable development in rural areas. There is a growing interest in making such investments in rural areas.
