TIRANA, July 1 /ATA/ The Ministry of Defence announced that within the last 24 hours, 24 fire hotspots were reported and have been successfully contained and extinguished.

According to data reported to the National Civil Emergency Operations Center at AKMC, these fire hotspots were identified in the municipalities of Vlora, Vau i Dejës, Malësi e Madhe, Rrogozhinë, Durrës, Fier, Kuçovë, Lezhë, Kurbin, and Has.

Most of the fires started in areas with vegetation, burning approximately 9 hectares of shrubland and grassland, along with 200 olive trees at a reported hotspot in the village of Frakull, municipality of Fier.
Two fire incidents were reported in residential structures: one in a dwelling in the village of Zagorë, Malësi e Madhe municipality, and the other in an unoccupied property located at “Mali i Kolajt,” Velipojë. Both incidents caused only material damage.

A total of 32 firefighting vehicles and 223 operational personnel were deployed across all fire suppression operations.

For today, according to forecasts from the Institute of Geosciences, a “high” risk level is expected in the districts of Lezhë, Durrës, Tiranë, Berat, and Fier, while a “moderate” risk level is anticipated in the other districts.

The entire civil protection system is actively monitoring the situation and remains on standby to provide immediate assistance if required.
The Ministry of Defence calls on citizens to remain vigilant and responsible during this period of high temperatures and heightened fire risk. It advises the public to refrain from any activities that could spark fires, including lighting open flames, burning waste, or disposing of flammable materials in the open air.
