TIRANA, Aug 16 /ATA/ The wildfire situation across the country has been brought under control in many previously affected areas, thanks to the comprehensive response of emergency services.

The Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday that there are currently 13 wildfires, with 10 still active and 3 under observation.

In the village of Tërnovë, within the Zerqan administrative unit, the fire continues to spread through the forest canopy, moving from the mountain ridge toward Old Bulqizë. Today’s response involves 8 personnel from MZSH Bulqizë, 7 municipal units, 8 forestry teams, and 30 military personnel from the Armed Forces. The fire is advancing through high forests and dense vegetation, heading toward the village of Valikardhë.

Smoke concentration remains elevated, and flame intensity continues to be high. Residential structures are not currently threatened, and an Air Force helicopter has been deployed to support operations.

The Bulqizë wildfire, ignited on August 14 on Mali me Gropa near the village of Val, remains active. Today, 5 municipal response units and 8 volunteer teams have been assigned to monitor the site. The fire is burning shrubs and dry grass in a challenging and hazardous area for ground-based intervention.

Firefighting operations are ongoing in Xeth village, Blerim administrative unit, within the Fushë-Arrëz municipality. The response includes 12 firefighters with 2 fire trucks, 6 police officers with 2 vehicles, 40 municipal personnel, 13 forestry service members, and 80 military personnel. The fire is currently active across 3 separate sites, and in the Kunorë Dardhës area toward the Truen River, flames have reached a densely forested pine area. An Air Force helicopter is also involved in the operation.

A wildfire remains active in a pine forest in Velë village, Rubik administrative unit, Mirditë municipality. The response includes 3 fire trucks with 7 MZSH personnel, 17 municipal staff, 10 volunteers, 7 forestry units, and 4 police officers. The rugged terrain makes ground-based intervention extremely challenging.

In the Tirana municipality, on Mali i Bërzhitës, Ibë village, the wildfire that started on August 10, 2025, has spread to the village of Durisht. On-site operations involve 3 fire trucks with 12 MZSH Tirana personnel, 5 APR units, and police forces. The fire has been brought under control, but the terrain remains challenging.

In the Tirana municipality, in the villages of Damjan-Fortuzaj and Isufaj, Vaqarr administrative unit, the fire has been brought under control. The operation involved 3 fire trucks with 16 MZSH personnel, 5 APR units, and police forces.

In Tirana municipality, the wildfires in the villages of Ferraj and Zall-Herr, now extending to Priskë e Vogël, are burning at low intensity. The situation is under control, with no threat to residential structures. Continuous monitoring is being conducted by MZSH Tirana and municipal response teams.

Similarly, in the Zgure area, Zall-Bastar administrative unit, the wildfire persists at low intensity without posing a risk to homes. MZSH Tirana and municipal forces continue to monitor the situation.

In Tirana municipality, the wildfire in Pezë-Helmës village, which started on August 13, 2025, has escalated and now poses a threat to the dense pine forest of Peza. Ground operations involve 42 MZSH Tirana personnel, supported by municipal units, volunteers, and the State Police. An Air Force helicopter is also participating in the response.

In the Kolonjë municipality, in the Gërmenj Natural Park, Leskovik administrative unit, the fire has been extinguished. However, due to wind and temperature, small flare-ups occurred and have been suppressed. Today, the operation involves 3 fire trucks with 13 MZSH Kolonjë personnel, 20 municipal forces, 6 police officers, and 4 volunteers.

In the Gramsh municipality, wildfire flare-ups have reoccurred in the villages of Kullollas, Kodovjat, and Ermenj, within the Skënderbegas administrative unit. In Kullollas, at a site called Mulliri, municipal staff and volunteers are responding, while in Bletëz village, a single MZSH Gramsh fire truck with 3 personnel is engaged in operations.

In Gramsh municipality, Kukur administrative unit, at Dushku Tekke, small wildfire flare-ups continue to occur occasionally. Today, until 12:00, response efforts included 1 fire truck with 5 MZSH Gramsh personnel, 2 forestry units, and 10 local residents. The main difficulty is the thickness of the humus layer.

In Elbasan municipality, Zavalinë administrative unit, on Mount Shiroka, the wildfire remains active. Ground operations involve 6 MZSH Elbasan personnel, 9 forestry enterprise staff, and 6 municipal units.
