“After uninterrupted work of the operational forces on the ground, 6 of them were contained and put out, while 14 hotspots remain active,” the National Operational Center for Civil Emergencies said in a press release.

In Prespa National Park, Mali i Thate, work continues apace to extinguish the fire that is raging on in a difficult terrain and is spreading due to flammable vegetation. The operation today engaged Romanian C-27J Spartan aircraft, forces from the municipalities of Pogradec, Pustec and the Regional Administration of Protected Areas.

Also, the firefighters on the ground were assisted by 103 armed forces and 10 vehicles.

In the village of Raja and Geghysen, in the municipality of Tropoja the wildfire has been contained, but municipal forces continue to monitor the situation.

In the Bollotek Mountains near the River Gash the hotspot is active in the forests of beech and black pine trees. Efforts continue apace to contain the wildfire which is raging in the rugged terrain.

In the village of Ternova, the municipality of Bulqizë the fire has receded, but monitoring continues. The fire is under control.

In the village of Luzni , Dibra municipality, the wildfire has been contained and is being kept under control by forces of the Regional Administration of Protected Areas.

In the village of Ujanik, in the municipality of Skrapar, fire is active due to the rocky terrain and slope, which makes it extremely difficult for firefighting forces to intervene from the ground. The fire is spreading towards the “Holy Place”, where a fire engine has been deployed.

Over the village of Sotirë, in Upper Dropull the fire is active but of low intensity. The fire fighters are being assisted by 15 troops and 1 vehicle of the AF.

“Under the coordination of the National Civil Protection Agency, the Armed Forces have strengthened the capacities of local government teams in the battle to contain the wildfire in difficult terrain,” the press release said.

In a media statement, Bici said that according to the National Operational Center for Civil Emergencies, 16 wildfires have been reported in the last 24 hours.

So far, the crews have contained the hotspots in the village of Halil, municipality of Kruja, village of Velçan, municipality of Berat, village of Bogë and village of Flakë, Malësi e Madhe municipality.
Also the wildfires in the villages of Shkallnur, Durrës municipality, Barbullush, Vau-Dejës municipality, Shargë, Vorë municipality, Shijon, Elbasan municipality, Shtepanje, Cërrik municipality, Shkalë pass, Belsh municipality, Gravë-Burimi Merkos, Finiq municipality, Helshan, Has municipality, Dragobi, Tropoja municipality have been brought under control.

During the last 24 hours, 436 firefighters, Army troops, municipal forces, police forces, employees of the Protected Areas Administration, forest service, volunteers, 29 fire engines and a helicopter have been engaged in the operation to extinguish the flames.
The Air Force helicopter has doused the flames in the village of Ndërshen, municipality of Mirditë.
Currently, there are three hotspots in the village of Ndershen, the municipality of Mirditë, Vinjolle, the municipality of Kurbin and Qukës Skënderbej, the municipality of Prrenjas.

“Amid this wildfire situation that has engulfed the entire region of Europe, we call on the inhabitants of the territory of the Republic of Albania to be mindful and to report in time to the fire service. We remind you that arson is punishable by law”, said Bici.

In a press release, MoD says that land and air fire-fighting operation is ongoing to extinguish the fire on Mount Rruna, the administrative unit of Malzi.

“The Armed Forces of Albania have managed to contain the blaze in the Qafa e Kumbulles area, while Kosovo Security Force troops have been deployed in Laku i Mollës, where the wildfire continues raging, on the border with Puka. The hotspot at Laku i Qershive continues to be problematic. “The rocky and steep slope make it difficult for the crews to respond by land, but the residential areas are not at risk and the situation is being monitored by special structures,” the Ministry of Defence reports.

Multiple forces have deployed in the village of Thirrë in Fan of Mirdita battling the flames to bring the situation under control.

“The hotspot on the side of the tunnel is under control, while the other part of the mountain continues to be on fire,” same sources say.
MoD informs that the work is ongoing to put out the fire in the village of Munellë and Domgjon.

“The forces on the ground are struggling to contain the blaze in Domgjon village. Currently the blaze has spread through rugged terrain which makes it difficult to be contained. The AF troops are also working on the spot to prevent the blaze from spreading towards the residential area, “same sources say.

Also, according to the MoD, the situation in the hotspot above the village Dukat, which was earlier brought under control continues to pose a threat with the fire flaring up again. The ground and air firefighting operation is ongoing. The hotspot does not pose any danger to houses nearby.
Another fire has broken out in Patalej village of Lezhë, where the crews are struggling to contain the flames heading towards the road. No risk to the houses in this area.

The wildfires in Krushovë, Gjonomadh and Leshnjë in municipality of Korçë as well as the blaze in the area called Guri i Nikës in municipality of Pogradec, according to the same sources, has been brought under control by the firefighting crews on the ground.

The hotspot in the bush-covered area on Mount Tomorr, in the rocky terrain above “Kulmaku Tekke,” the village of Ujanik, has been contained.

In the regions of Gjirokastër, Fier, Dibër, Tiranë, Elbasan and Shkodër the situation has been brought under control.

Prime Minister Edi Rama states that “so far 163 fires have been extinguished throughout the territory for which 1289 Army troops with 146 AF vehicles, 143 fire engines, 1052 firefighting forces and 441 civil emergency forces have engaged in large scale operations.”

In the updated information provided by the Ministry of Defence on the situation of fires, Rama reports that in Vlora, in Karaburun Peninsula, the fire situation does not threaten the Llogara National Park. The blaze is being kept in check.

In Kukës, on the top of Rune, the flames are also being kept under control through air and ground fire-fighting operations. The flames are spreading towards Shemri village, yet they do not pose any risk due to the long distance.

In Mirdita, two fires are burning in the village of Thirrë and Munellë. The situation is under control and poses no risk.

In Vermosh, in Malësi e Madhe, the fire is under control and does not pose any risk.

In Tropoja, the flames have been contained in Betosh and Shëngjergj.

In Shkodra, another blaze in Theth has been contained. The flames in the village of Cukal have been also brought under control.

In Valbona Valley, the fire in Margegaj is burning on rocky ground and in turn does not pose any risk.

In Karaburun the crews continue to battle flames, although most of them have been extinguished. The flames do not pose any risk for the time being.

In Gjirokastra the situation is under control. A flame continues burning in the village of Saraqinisht, but does not pose any risk.

Even the wildfire in the village of Gadurovë in Mallakastra has been brought under control.

The blaze in the village of Cukal, in Shkodra is burning, yet it does not pose any risk.
On Mount Shëngjin, in Lezha the wildfire has been contained.

The wildfire in the village of Kalis, Kukës is being kept in check, minimising the risk to the houses nearby.

Meanwhile the fire situation on Mount Rruna in Kukes continues to be worrying. The flames have engulfed the largest part of the mountain, but the situation is being kept in check to protect the houses.
