TIRANA, Aug 7 /ATA/ Official sources from the Ministry of Defence reported on Saturday that the large-scale operation to put out the remaining blazes countrywide is going full speed ahead.

Most of the raging blazes in Karaburun Peninsula, administrative unit of Orikum, municipality of Vlora, have been put out, but a destructive fire has rekindled on Mount Dukat Mountain.

On Saturday the helicopter from the Netherlands is assisting our operational forces on the ground.
Also, the Ministry of Defence informs that another fire has broken out on Grama Bay while work continues apace to put it out.

“The fire raging near the Rips border crossing in the village of Livadhja, Finiq municipality has broken out on rough terrain, but is being kept under control to avoid any potential danger to residential areas,” same sources say.

To extinguish a fire in the village of Gjorgos, the administrative unit of Cakran, Fier municipality, the operational forces have been working for hours to bring the flames under control. The helicopter from the Czech Republic arrived to assist the crew with the fire-fighting operation.

The wildfire on Rruna peak, the administrative unit of Malzi, municipality of Kukës, is being kept under control to prevent the flames from spreading through the inhabited areas. Due to rough terrain, the forces were unable to douse the whole area.

Also, the wildfire in the village of Vermosh, the administrative unit of Kelmend, municipality of Malësi e Madhe has been brought under control.
