Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, said that the Civil Protection structures are battling with the blaze while the Army troops are working alongside them.

The minister appealed to the locals to cooperate with state structures in execution of evacuation orders.

Around 22 ha of forests and pastures have been damaged by the raging fires that swept through the region of Gjirokastra.

Two wildfires in Gjirokastra, in the villages of Palokastër and Qestorat are under control.
