In a media statement, the Prefect of the Vlora District, Kristo Kiço, spoke about the situation in Finiq, adding that the fire has engulfed the Archaeological Park of this city.

Prefect Kiço emphasized that preliminary assessment of the situation is underway.

“From the eastern part, the fire has been brought under control behind the Finiq National Archeological Park. The situation in two villages of Shijan and Mavropull is problematic, due to the wind fanning the fire. Firefighters are on the spot battling the fire,” he added.

The prefect of Vlora announced that 30 army forces have arrived on the ground to assist the fire brigade.

“The fire has not damaged the houses, only the fruit trees. We have come up with an assessment for the Archeological Park of Finiq, we are also in communication with the directorate. The fire has spread over the entire surface of the Finiq park. Vegetation has been burned down. The entrance to the park and the ticket office have been saved from the flames,” he said./m.m/sm/
