TIRANA, April 4 /ATA/ The World Bank country manager in Albania, Emanuel Salinas, in a joint press conference alongside Prime Minister Edi Rama, praised the cooperation with the Albanian government in the implementation of various projects that deliver an impact on the country’s economy, breaking the news about the new partnership framework that will help the country to bounce back quickly and grow into a stronger, more inclusive, resilient and greener economy.

Salinas said that the new 4-year cooperation program of the WB with the Albanian government is based on three main pillars: creation of more and better jobs, maximization of human capital, and increased resilience to natural disasters and other types of shocks.

“WB is committed to the creation of more jobs for the Albanian population, especially for youth and women, in the next 4-5 years. In the future, our challenge is to create better workplaces, to introduce incentives for people to work here. The second pillar is human capital. As we all know, we are concerned about the number of people leaving Albania, but we can strengthen the human capital here, improving education, health and social protection. A lot has been achieved in this regard. We think there is room to do more in the future. Thirdly, the third pillar focuses on resiliency and sustainability. We need to increase resilience to mitigate the impact of some of these events in the future,” he said.

Salinas emphasized that the new partnership framework makes available for Albania 900 million euros.
