TIRANA, Nov 25 /ATA/ Albania has a unique opportunity to address climate change while driving economic growth, according to the World Bank Group’s Country Climate and Development Report for Albania released today in Tirana.

The WB report says: Albania, one of Europe’s most disaster-prone countries, needs $6 billion in investments over the next decade to protect against climate risks, while returns on adaptation could reach €10 for every €1 invested.

It says that without action, climate-related damages could cost the country 7% of its GDP. With reforms and private-sector engagement, Albania can transition to renewables, reduce emissions, and unlock new economic opportunities.

“Climate action is not just a necessity; it’s a pathway to sustainable growth and resilience,” said Emanuel Salinas, World Bank Country Manager for Albania.
