TIRANA, April 30/ATA/ Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku was in Pogradec area, where she closely inspected implementation of the normative act for the treatment of polluted waters from hotels operating along the coast.

The task force inspectors are on the ground monitoring the process at every step.

Even in the Pogradec area, the subjects have started to install these plants, responding positively to this decision, on the eve of the start of the tourist season.

Administrator of the National Agency of Water Supply, Sewerage and Solid Waste Klevis Jahaj said that in this period there is being carried out the entire process of installing the plants, where the hotel structures have also started preparations for the next season, thus not creating obstacles for any of them.

According to him, in the Pogradec area there are 120 subjects that are affected by this normative act, which focuses on improving the quality of service.

Balluku appreciated the commitment of the hotel subjects who have already been convinced of the need to treat polluted water, which directly affects the quality of service.

Deputy PM Balluku said that the action is mainly focused on the coastal areas, where the largest flow of visitors is accommodated.

The deadline for completing the installation of the plants is May 1, but Balluku stated that the subjects must complete this process by May 15.

“We expect 14 million tourists and we can have even more and it would be good to finish this process as soon as possible”, she said.

The European Agency for Washing Water for 2022 classified 67.5% of washing water in Albania with “excellent” quality, while the target is to reach 95% of washing water with “excellent” quality through this process./p.s./

TIRANA, June 11/ATA/ The report of the European Environment Agency clearly expresses the trend of improving water quality in Albania over the years.

According to the European Environment Agency, the increase in investments for environmental protection and water protection and much greater care for beaches has made Albania reach European standards in parameters that measure the quality of water in the sea, lakes and rivers.

Prime Minister Edi Rama posted in the social media the indicators reported by the European Environment Agency that show the improvement of the water quality of beaches, seas and lakes in our country.

The European Environment Agency stated that, in 2020, 76.5% of total water is excellent, compared to 58.8% in 2019.

“The improvement comes thanks to the measures taken by the National Environment Agency against the subjects that are required to respect the allowed limits of destruction in the environment as well as the construction of urban water treatment plants, cleaning and good management of beaches. Spend the holidays in Albania “- said Rama. /j.p/p.s./
