TIRANA, Sept 27 /ATA/ The work on the construction of the new Patos water supply system continues apace.
Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, also Minister of Infrastructure and Energy saw first-hand the progress of the works on new water supply system which is set to supply nearly 40 thousand inhabitants with drinking water.
“An investment which will guarantee uninterrupted supply of drinking water for the residents of the city and surrounding villages”, said Balluku, adding that 4,000 new meters will be installed in entire area.
Currently, the works are well underway on the third lot of the new water supply system, which completes the entire scheme of this investment in the municipality of Patos, including around 15 villages that were left out of the first and second lot.
Balluku also said that we anticipate that photovoltaic parks will also be built here as mechanisms that reduce costs, given that pumping systems burden the budgets of water utilities.

Balluku stressed the importance of moving ahead with the reform of regional Water and Sanitation enterprises, such as those of Fier or Lushnja, where until now losses in terms of water revenue have reduced 5% and the level of water collections has increased by over 31 million ALL compared to a year ago.
“This investment will reduce to 25% from the current 80% the level of losses in the network due to depreciation, in addition to improving the drinking water supply service for 40,000 residents”, said Balluku.
She pointed out that the development of the Fier coastline is a priority in the government projects, which in the coming years will propel the area into development and increase the flow of tourists and visitors.
The construction of the new Patos water supply system is set to be completed in July 2025.
