TIRANA, Aug 5 /ATA/ Deputy Prime Minister, also Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, said on Saturday that “the reform of water supply and sanitation sector is delivering tangible results.”

Balluku also dived deep into the status quo of the water and sanitation utility in Durrës.

“The Durres water and sanitation utility, one of those service providers struggling with poor performance and low cost recovery also due to the numerous pumping systems, has been aggregated today with four other utilities, creating one of the 16 new organizations as part of the MoIE reform in this vital sector, as the director of the Durrës Aggregation, Spartak Kovaçi explains in this video,” Balluku said, sharing a clip of the interview of director Kovaçi with Scan television.

“The parameters and results of the last 12 months speak to a clear success of this reform, achievements which we share in a transparent fashion with the public,” Balluku said.

“It is a complete mystery to me why some media spread disinformation, moreover those claiming to be specialized in the economic field, does it come as a result of illiteracy, or there are certain segments that seek to discredit the good works and comprehensive reforms? In both cases, we are sorry for the level that they have stooped to, meanwhile we are not held back by either disinformation nor extortion. We have seen a lot and who knows how much more we will see, it is important that we continue to improve the processes and strengthen the water and sanitation sector in Albania. The figures speak for themselves!”, concluded Balluku.

Meanwhile, Kovaçi explained in the interview that, “an enterprise with 100% state capital, as we are, which manages the water supply and the collection and treatment of waste water, cannot go bankrupt. The law does not allow it, neither the state.”
